SKIN AGING

At Enrichment Skin Solutions, we get many questions regarding aging. One question is, at what point should I be concerned about not looking youthful? What happens to my skin when I age? What can I do about it?

When we were all younger, we had very little shadow (created by skin sag and pigmentation changes) and had good blended harmonious structure. As we age, there is a change in the separation of the face with a decreased thickness of the skin, decreased subcutaneous fat, facial skeleton changes, and demarcation which causes lines, wrinkles, sag, and changes in the shadows of the facial units. In addition, as the facial structures weaken, our facial expressions may also change. We may look tired or sad or angry, or unapproachable. People may create an instant assessment of our age based upon our facial features. This is typically when people begin to be concerned about not looking youthful.

Skin age is the progressive accumulation of damage at the molecular and cellular level. By the time we generally recognize our reshaping facial features, most of the damage has already started.

What can I do about it? How about playing defense? First of all, taking care of our overall health through diet, exercise, rest/sleep, and a wellness exam is very important. Second, try to reduce inflammation of our skin through great skin care products, sun protection, decrease free radicals, supplements that can assist with enhancing our bones, hormonal supplementation, and even consider interventions to assist in producing collagen and elastin.

It is of benefit to find a Medspa near by, one that has appropriate interventions to address skin aging. These may include: microneedling, hydrafacials, platelet rich fibrin (PRF), fillers to improve facial structure. Also, PDO threads can build collagen and create an improved facial structure. And of course ongoing discussion of health preventative measures. At Enrichment Skin Solutions, we want to assist you in defending your health and discontinuity of aging.
